Le plumage de ce Hibou lui assure une certaine discrétion – Siberian Eagle-Owl

Le hibou Grand-duc d’Europe – Bubo bubo – est le plus grand rapace nocturne d’Europe.

Chez ce rapace, nous connaissons 16 sous-espèces. Parmi celles-ci, le hibou Grand-duc de Sibérie se différencie par ses couleurs beaucoup plus claires.

Son nom scientifique – Bubo bubo sibiricus  – précise bien son origine géographique. Ce grand rapace vit dans la région des montagnes de l’Oural et en Sibérie.

Son plumage clair lui permet de se confondre avec son environnement. Il vit dans les zones de falaises en montagne.

C’est un rapace dont l’envergure approche les 190 cm pour une taille de 75 cm environ. C’est principalement les femelles qui atteignent ces dimensions. Elles sont plus grandes que les mâles.

Sa nourriture est très variée. Du lézard au renard. Tout est bon pour ce grand chasseur nocturne.

The Eurasian Eagle-Owl – Bubo bubo – is the largest nocturnal raptor in Europe.

In this species, 16 subspecies are recognized. Among these, the Siberian Eagle owl differs by its much lighter colours.

Its scientific name – Bubo bubo sibiricus – clearly indicates its geographical origin. This large raptor lives in the Ural Mountains and Siberia.

Its clear plumage allows it to mingle with its environment. It lives in the areas of cliffs in the mountains.

For this raptor, the wingspan approaches 190 cm for a size of about 75 cm. It’s mainly females that reach those dimensions. They’re larger than males. Its food is very varied. From lizard to fox. Everything is good for this great nocturnal hunter.
