Le mâle et la femelle sont identiques. Ils diffèrent par la voix. Chacun émettant des sons spécifiques à son genre. Les couples semblent formés pour plusieurs années. C’est un oiseau bruyant. Le mâle émet des sons ressemblant à ceux d’une personne enrouée. La femelle est plus proche d’un caquètement peu harmonieux.

Le tadorne radjah niche près de l’eau et près de ses sources d’alimentation. Il recherche une cavité dans un arbre pour y pondre de 6 à 12 œufs qui seront couvés durant environ 1 mois.

Il se nourrit de végétaux (algues, roseaux) mais aussi de mollusques et d’insectes. Il trouve son alimentation dans l’eau peu profonde et dans les prairies autour des étendues d’eau.

The male and female are similar. They differ in voice. Each emits sounds specific to their gender. Couples seem to be formed for several years. It is a noisy bird. The male emits sounds resembling those of a hoarse person. The female is closer to a poorly harmonious cackling.

The Radjah Shelduck nests near water and near its food sources. He is looking for a cavity in a tree to lay 6 to 12 eggs that will be incubated for about 1 month.

It feeds on plants (algae, reeds) but also mollusks and insects. It finds its food in the shallow water and in the meadows around the water.
